Ɏ MASATOSHI (ATTR.): MING VASE (MIN NO KABIN) Attributed to Nakamura Tokisada (Masatoshi) (1915-2001), unsigned Japan, 20th century Finely carved as an elegant Ming-style vase with a tall, slender neck, a sinuous dragon coils dynamically around the vessel, its head emerging boldly to the front with open mouth, curling whiskers, and finely detailed features. The elongated body wraps gracefully around the vase in sweeping movement, emphasizing the composition's sense of vitality. The material, likely a sperm whale tooth, is attractively polished, highlighting its natural luster. Natural himotoshi under the dragon’s body which is slightly raised above the vase.
