Ɏ MITSUO: AN IVORY OKIMONO STYLE NETSUKE OF A FATHER AND CHILD MANUFACTURING A KODANSU By Mitsuo, signed Mitsuo 光雄 Japan, Tokyo, Meiji period (1868-1912) Finely carved as a jovial man seated beside a kodansu, leaning over the top with one hand resting on its cover, the other holding a hammer. A young boy kneels at his side, smiling as he holds a bowl and brush, with further small bowls placed before him. The vendor is dressed in a voluminous robe with deeply incised folds, the textile patterns and woodgrain of the shelf neatly incised. The knob of the shelf is inlaid in green-stained horn. Natural himotoshi and signed underneath MITSUO. LENGTH 3.5 cm Trade Certificate: The trade certificate for the sale of this lot within the EU has been granted (permit number FR2507508687-K).
