拍品描述
A FINE LACQUER ‘MAPLE LEAVES’ TEBAKO (ACCESSORY BOX) AND COVER Japan, 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868) Of rectangular form, this elegant tebako is crafted with a rich black-lacquer ground, enhanced with gold sprinkles. The box is exquisitely decorated using both gold takamaki-e and hiramaki-e techniques, with the vibrant gold leaves creating a dynamic contrast against the dark lacquer. The inrobuta (flush-fitting) lid features a finely rendered design of maple leaves, which extend seamlessly from the lid down the sides of the box, creating a harmonious and continuous motif that draws the viewer’s eye around the entire piece. The interior is finished in a delicate nashiji ground, framed with gold fundame rims. The overall design exemplifies the highest level of craftsmanship, with the depiction of the leaves creating a sense of movement and life, reminiscent of the fleeting beauty of autumn.
