A TURQUOISE-GREEN CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL ‘DOVE AMID CHERRY BLOSSOMS’ FACETED BALUSTER VASE Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) The slender, hexagonal-faceted body gently tapering toward a flat base and rising to a short, waisted neck with a flared rim, each end fitted with silver mounts. The deep turquoise-green ground meticulously decorated in vibrant enamels with silver wire, to depict a dove perched on a cherry tree in full bloom, which grows among seasonal flowers, including blossoming chrysanthemums (kiku) and irises (shobu), set against a backdrop of verdant grasses.
