拍品描述

KUBOTA YASUYOSHI: AN IMPOSING CLEAR-GLAZED FACETED PORCELAIN VASE By Kubota Yasuyoshi, signed by the artist Japan, Heisei period (1989-2019) Finely potted, the voluminous globular body, faceted with overlapping scale-form tiers, gently curving toward a flat base and rising to a short neck with a wide, circular mouth. The surface glazed with a transparent slip, revealing the clear white ground of the porcelain beneath. The underside left unglazed and incised with the artist’s signature. Height 30.2 cm, DIAMETER 35.8 cm Kubota Yasuyoshi is a well-established Japanese ceramic artist recognized for his sustained experimentation in white porcelain. His reputation was consolidated in 2001, when he received the Mainichi Shimbun Award at the 16th Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition for a large white porcelain vase defined by flowing lines associated with the Ryusen style. This mode, defined by continuous and dynamic movement, occupies a central position within the body of his work, whose practice may be situated within a broader lineage that includes figures such as Maeta Akihiro (b. 1954), designated in 2013 as a Bearer of Important Intangible Cultural Properties, or Living National Treasure, in acknowledgment of mastery in hand-crafted white porcelain.
