A FINE SHAKUDO TSUBA WITH CHIDORI UNDER THE FULL MOON Unsigned Japan, 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868) Of nagamarugata form, the mimi slightly raised, with one kozuka hitsu ana, the shakudo migakiji (polished) ground detailed with gold and silver hirazogan and takazogan as well as katakiribori and takabori to depict a flock of Chidori flying above misty water. The reverse with a full moon shrouded by hazy clouds above waves. HEIGHT 6.2 cm, LENGTH 5.3 cm, 2.7 cm (the nakago), THICKNESS 0.4 cm (the mimi), 0.5 cm (the seppa-dai) WEIGHT 102.2 g
