A WOOD KATANA-KAKE (SWORD STAND) Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) to Taisho period (1912-1926) The katana-kake supported on five tubular poles connected with smaller bars that rotate, joined by a pair of curved support planks embellished with openwork carving, and flanked by upright posts with stepped brackets for secure placement of the blade. The natural grain of the wood is prominently displayed. LENGTH 82.5 cm (when laying flat)
