The opening section features the Chinese art of a private Scottish collection from Dundee (lots 1-48). Including the Japanese art of this private collection (lots 239-244), it offers a total of 54 lots, ranging from ceramics, silverware, bronzes, hardwood furniture, and textiles. This is followed by the collection of Sir James Stewart Lockhart (lots 57-66) that is sold to benefit George Watson's College, Edinburgh, and continued by a private Scottish collection of furniture, works of art, and ceramics from Perthshire (lots 83-89). A private English collection of works of art, scholar’s objects, ceramics and especially jade (lots 102-115) leads the way. With a private Scottish collection from Glasgow (lots 123-126) follows, then a private Irish collection (lots 211-214), before an extensive property of a gentleman in England (lots 215-235), taking us to the Japanese section of the sale with various aforementioned collections. The sale concludes with a fine selection of Southeast Asian art (lots 252-255).
