Hollow-formed figure in sitting pose with stub legs and shallow bowl on the lap; broad shoulders and bowed arms, elongated head with lentoid eyes and large ears pierced at the lower edge to accept rings; conical upper head developing to a spout; traces of pigment. See Bruhns, K.O., Ancient South America, Cambridge World Archaeology series, Cambridge, 1994, for discussion of Colima / Western Mexico Shaft Tomb Culture; see also Holsbeke, M., Offerings for a New Life, Antwerp Ethnograhic Museum, 1998, figure 13, for an example of a colima figure holding a ceremonial bowl. 1.71 kg, 27 cm high (10 5/8 in.).
