Marc Chagall, Russian-French 1887-1985, Le Singe et le Leopard (The Monkey and the Leopard), 1927-30; etching on wove, signed in plate, image: 30 x 24 cm, (unframed) (ARR) Note: Created as part of his renowned series illustrating The Fables of Jean de la Fontaine. Although the etchings were published later, Chagall worked on this series between roughly 1927 and 1930 at the request of art dealer Ambroise Vollard, with the final portfolio issued in 1952.
