ΣΕΒΑΣ-ΤΟΣ, bare head of Tiberius (?) to right / ΔΙΟΣΚΟΥΡΙΔΗΣ ΛAOΔ-IKEΩN, Zeus Laodiceus standing facing, head to left, holding eagle in his right hand and long sceptre in his left; to right, monogram of KOP. RPC I, 2906; BMC 141-2; SNG Copenhagen 547-8. 6.19gr, 20mm, 1h. Acquired on the UK art market before 2000. Property of an Essex, UK, gentleman. RPC Online footnote: The monogram, which also occurs on Neronian coins of Aineias (2926-7), has been variously interpreted as standing for coronatus (Ramsay), ΚΟΡΝΗΛΙΟΣ (BMC) and ΑΡΧΟ (Wa) Κορ(νήλιος) is correct, as it is spelled out in full on coins of another Dioscurides (under Domitian: KM 266, nos 20-1, von Aulock 3845).
