Circa 14th-15th century A.D. Gauntlet or glove of St Thomas Becket with decorated band to the mouth; pin to reverse. Cf. Mitchiner, M., Medieval Pilgrim & Secular Badges, London, 1986, item 757. 2.38 grams, 24 mm (1 in.). [No Reserve] From a retired Lincolnshire, UK, gentleman's collection, a long time member of the Pewter Society. The gauntlet was the emblem of the Armourers Guild of London. The glove was an emblem of St Thomas Becket, whose gloves were involved in the miraculous healing of a nun.
