Silk embroidery panels comprising two distinct textile fragments, each demonstrating the virtuosity of classical needlework. The rectangular panel is densely worked in couched brass threads to illustrate a celestial phoenix amidst foliate scrolls and peonies above a diagonal wave border. The elongated vertical panel features a graceful sequence of floral sprays and butterflies rendered in cream and blue silken threads upon a pale celadon ground.
