Tang dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907. A pair of hollow-moulded terracotta female figures. Each is depicted standing upright and dressed in a short jacket over a long under-robe, with a shawl across the shoulders and long sleeves, the faces modelled with arched brows, narrow eyes, and painted lips. The figure on the left holds a large fan, and the figure on the right holds a pipa across the chest. Size: 270-290mm x 100-100mm; Weight: 1.6kg Provenance: UK private collection of Asian Art; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot.
