Ca. AD 700 - 800 or later. A carved stone bust of Kamadeva, shown frontally with a rounded face, downcast eyes beneath arched brows, a straight nose and closed lips. The hair is arranged in layered locks beneath an ornate headdress, flanked by rosette ornaments. The neck is encircled by beaded necklaces, and the upper arms are adorned with jewelled bands. Size: 620mm x 440mm; Weight: Over 20kg Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in early 2000s in Japan; previously in 1970s Japanese collection.
