TANG DYNASTY TERRACOTTA FIGURE OF A FAT LADY - TL TESTED

Ca. AD 618 - 907. A terracotta figure of a female court lady, known as a fat lady, standing on an integral base. She is dressed in a long orange robe painted with floral motifs and incised vertical folds, with an over-garment with green sleeves decorated with flower patterns. The rounded face is modelled with arched brows, narrow eyes, red lips, and painted cheeks, the hair arranged in an elaborate coiffure. The right hand is raised in a gesture, and the left is held before the chest.
