George Chann (1913–1995)was a Chinese-American painter born in Guangdong, later immigrating to the United States. Trained at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, his early works often depicted portraits, still lifes, and landscapes, while his later career shifted toward abstraction, incorporating Chinese calligraphy and symbols. Chann is recognized as an important figure bridging Eastern and Western artistic traditions. Mr. Chen, a distinguished retired attorney specializing in corporate law in the Los Angeles community, began collecting Chinese paintings and works of art in the 1970s. Much of the collection was acquired directly from artists as well as through auctions and estate sales across Southern California. 陳蔭罴(1913-1995),生於廣東中山,中國畫家。12歲在中國完成中學後隨父赴美,1934年進入洛杉磯奧蒂斯藝術學院學習,1940年獲美術碩士學位。1941年在洛杉磯加州藝術俱樂部舉行首次個展,次年經洛杉磯郡立美術館館長麥堅尼推薦於舊金山榮勳宮舉辦個展,並於奧蒂斯藝術學院年度展獲油畫類第一名。1947年至1949年返回中國,在廣州、上海等地舉辦個展,期間與嶺南畫派趙少昂、黃君璧交遊,研習書法水墨。1950年返美後轉向抽象繪畫研究,1951年參加詹姆士‧維吉維諾藝廊舉辦的「法美兩國名家小畫展」聯展,與梵谷、雷諾瓦、夏卡爾等國際名家同展。其創作融合中國傳統書法、碑刻元素與抽象表現主義手法,形成獨特的中國式抽象美學。作品被上海美術館、廣東美術館及美國數個市立美術館收藏。70年代後期創作轉向色彩與線條的自由表現,與趙無極、朱德群等同為海外華人抽象畫「四大天王」。2005年至2006年間,上海美術館與廣東美術館相繼舉辦其個人回顧展。 品相: Click here for natural light high resolution photos 高清細圖請點擊鏈接 Condition information is available by request, no later than 24 hours prior to the auction.
