AMLASH BRONZE AGE POLISHED ZOOMORPHIC ASKOS

Ca. 1000 BC. A zoomorphic askos with a globular body on four splayed feet. A cylindrical neck rises at one end and opens into a flaring pouring spout, with a thick strap handle arched from the upper body to the neck. The opposite end terminates in a small upturned projection suggesting a tail. The vessel is finished with a dark, burnished coating.
