清中期 釋迦牟尼本生故事唐卡 Finely painted in vivid mineral pigments and gold on cloth, the central figure of Shakyamuni Buddha seated in dhyanasana upon a lotus pedestal, flanked by attendant monks and surrounded by a richly detailed narrative of episodes from his life, each vignette labeled in Tibetan script. The Buddha is depicted with serene expression, blue hair, and flowing robes rendered in intricate brocade patterns, against a radiant mandorla. Scenes illustrating the Eight Great Events and other episodes unfold amidst temples, celestial realms, and mountainous landscapes. The lower register with donor figures and wrathful deities above an inscription panel. 18th century. His gaze is meditative, eyes slightly closed in serene contemplation. His dark blue-black hair is arranged in small curls, gathered into a prominent ushnisha (Sanskrit)at the crown, topped with a single gold ornament. A dot (urna)is placed between his long, tapered eyebrows, while his elongated, pierced earlobes and the three horizontal lines on his neck represent marks of beauty and auspiciousness.His right arm extends downward, the hand resting across his knee with fingers pointed toward the earth in the bhumisparsha mudra (Earth-touching gesture), symbolizing the moment of enlightenment. His left hand rests in his lap, palm facing upward in the dhyana mudra (gesture of meditation), holding a black begging bowl trimmed in gold and filled with myrobalan fruit, symbolizing healing.An orange robe drapes across his upper body and wraps around his legs, while the lower body is clad in a red under-robe, secured with a dark sash. His legs are crossed in vajra posture, right over left, atop a large, multi-colored lotus pedestal and a tiered throne. A blue-orange nimbus and a deep green aureola surround his body and head.The Twelve Deeds of Shakyamuni Buddha:1.The Bodhisattva, in the form of a white elephant, descends from the Tushita Heaven.2.He enters the womb of Queen Maya Devi.3.His miraculous birth takes place in the Lumbini Grove.4.He masters worldly arts and princely skills.5.He observes the Four Sights:birth, sickness, old age, and death.6.He renounces palace life and becomes a self-ordained monk.7.He performs severe austerities.8.He sits in meditation beneath the Bodhi tree.9.He defeats the Four Maras-obstacles to enlightenment.10.He attains Buddhahood.11.He turns the Wheel of Dharma.12.
