A Chinese Olive Glazed Pottery 'Boshan' Censer

漢 綠釉博山蓋神獸紋樽 The cylindrical body raised on three short feet and encircled with bands of molded mythical beasts, covered overall in a olive-green glaze thinning to amber tones at the edges. Surmounted by a domed ‘boshan’ cover finely worked in relief with swirling peaks and cloud scrolls, evoking the Isles of the Immortals, the interior unglazed, with areas of encrustation consistent with burial.
