北魏 石雕佛首 Carved in the round from a buff-grey stone, the head with gently downcast eyes beneath arched brows, a straight nose above full lips forming a serene smile, the hair rendered in a domed ushnisha, the surface extensively weathered with encrustation and traces of earthen accretion, the reverse with later ink inscription of a chinese character 'stone' and number 995, later drilled aperture to the base. Northern Wei Dynasty period.
