Ca. AD 1700 - 1750. The gently curved steel blade with a single edge, the hilt of characteristic Mughal form with a broad disc pommel and short quillons.The grip and guard are decorated with fine inlaid silver (koftgari) vegetal and geometric motifs.The surface bears a rich dark patina, with areas of wear consistent with age and use.A well-preserved example of Indo-Islamic courtly arms, reflecting the refined metalworking traditions of the Mughal period. Size: 890mm x 90mm; Weight: 1.19kg Provenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1980s.
