Ca. AD 1800 - 1900. A tabar axe with a crescent-shaped head with a square-block socket, surmounted by a small architectural finial and a rear-pointing spike. A pierced crest runs along the upper edge of the head. Both faces are decorated with brass inlay, with a central panel of three standing figures set within a field of scrolling foliage. The head is mounted on a long wooden haft. Size: 610mm x 200mm; Weight: 675g Provenance: Property of an Oxfordshire art professional; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1970s on the Canadian art market.
