Ca. AD 1000 - 1200. A bronze ewer with a pear-shaped body on a flaring foot, rising to a conical neck and a spout cast as a lamp with a narrow nozzle. An arched handle joins the shoulder to the spout, terminating in a knop and fitted with a thumb rest spur. The spout is fitted with a hinged lid formed as a zoomorphic mask. The neck is engraved with vertical petal motifs, repeated around the foot. An epigraphic band in rectangular panels, interrupted by roundels, encircles the shoulder. The body is further ornamented with three panels, with a central arched niche motif flanked by two matching panels showing a quadruped amid scrolling foliage, above a narrow band at the lower body.
