Ca. AD 300 - 500. A bronze oil lamp with an elongated body and a rounded nozzle terminating in a circular wick opening, a raised collar around the central filling hole, a hinged lid with a flat circular cover, and a loop handle at the rear. The lamp is mounted on a tall column-shaped stand with a stepped capital with a beaded moulding and a cylindrical shaft with vertical fluting, above a flat circular base. Size: 170mm x 160mm; Weight: 995g Provenance: Private London collection; previously in H. Cutting collection, Cambridge, UK formed in the 1990s to early 2000s.
