GNATHIAN TERRACOTTA EPICHYSIS

Ca. 325 - 275 BC. A black-glazed terracotta epichysis with a spool-shaped body, a short cylindrical neck culminating in an upturned spout with moulded knops, and a high strap handle rising above the spout and attached at the shoulder. The exterior is decorated with a reserved band at the foot and added decoration in red, white, and orange, including a wavy tendril with buds around the lower body, a band of ovolo at the flange edge, a band of pendant grape bunches on the shoulder and vertical strokes on the neck.
