Ca. AD 1250 - 1400. A copper alloy horse harness pendant, of quatrefoil form with an integral suspension loop, the field enamelled and centred by a shield with a cross patonce, the quadrants filled with red enamel. The three surrounding lobes are decorated with stylised birds, possibly peacocks. The reverse is plain. Size: 30mm x 22mm; Weight: 6.2g Provenance: From the private collection of an Essex gentleman; previously in an old British Collection, formed in the 1990s.
