Ca. AD 1250 - 1400. A copper alloy horse harness pendant, with a transverse bar pierced at the terminals for attachment and a central hinge supporting a shield-shaped pendant. The shield is enamelled red, with a fess between six pales arranged as three in a row above and three below, set two-over-one. Size: 80mm x 55mm; Weight: 26.7g Provenance: From the private collection of an Essex gentleman; previously in an old British Collection, formed in the 1980s on the UK / European art markets.
