Ca. AD 1250 - 1400. A copper alloy horse harness pendant, with a transverse bar pierced at three points for attachment and a central hinge supporting a shield-shaped pendant. The shield is enamelled green, decorated with three stylised owls arranged two-over-one. The reverse is plain. Size: 80mm x 60mm; Weight: 28.5g Provenance: From the private collection of an Essex gentleman; previously in an old British Collection, formed in the 1990s on the UK / European art markets.
