Ca. 1200 - 800 BC. A bronze horse bit comprising a rectangular-section bar fitted through two openwork cheekpieces, each cast as a horse in profile standing on a rectangular base frame. Each horse is cast with a ridged mane, a large eye, and a short muzzle, with a rein loop rising above the head and a secondary loop on the rump. Size: 110mm x 110mm; Weight: 555g Provenance: Property of an London art professional; previously in an old 1970's Canadian collection.
