Ca. 1200 - 800 BC. A bronze horse bit comprising a straight cylindrical mouthpiece fitted through two openwork cheekpieces, each cast as a winged stag standing on a rectangular base frame, with a long upright neck and turned head surmounted by an antler rack with stepped tines. Each stag has a raised wing at the shoulder, surmounted by a rein ring. Size: 170mm x 100mm; Weight: 605g Provenance: Property of an London art professional; previously in an old 1970's Canadian collection.
