拍品描述
Ca. 19th Century. A refined pair of nineteenth-century Chinese straight swords (shuang jian) features slender, tapering blades of understated elegance and softly rounded points. The hilts are adorned with gilt-brass fittings, while lobed guards are delicately chased with floral motifs, framing dark hardwood grips set with stylised rosette plaques. The scabbard is clad in finely textured ray skin, secured by gilt mounts and suspension bands of harmonious proportion. The ensemble achieves a subtle equilibrium between martial austerity and decorative refinement, exemplifying the craftsmanship of the late Qing period. Size: 770mm x 90mm; Weight: 1kg Provenance: Private UK collection; From an old European collection formed in the 1990s.
