Ca. AD 1300 - 1400. A glazed ceramic footed bowl with a deep, rounded body rising from a short stem to a straight rim, set on a broad, spreading foot. The exterior is decorated with a green-glazed band below the lip and two horizontal registers of incised pendants running around the wall. The interior is decorated with a green-glazed rim and a wide sgraffito frieze of alternating roundels enclosing cross devices and scrolling S-motifs on hatched ground, the tondo centred by a circular medallion with radiating points and linear ornament, the design outlined in dark slip with green washes. Size: 80mm x 140mm; Weight: 285g Provenance: Provenance: Property of a central London gallery; Ex collection of James Alfred Brew (1923 - 2008), collected in Cyprus during the 1960s.
