Ca. AD 1300 - 1400. A glazed ceramic footed bowl with a deep, carinated body and slightly thickened rim, set on a short stem and flaring foot. The exterior is decorated with incised vegetal ornament around the upper body. The interior is divided by an incised cross into quadrants around a central square panel, the fields filled with stylised foliate motifs, with a narrow wavy line below the rim. Finished beneath a pale glaze with green and light amber splashes. Size: 145mm x 135mm; Weight: 580g Provenance: Provenance: Property of a central London gallery; Ex collection of James Alfred Brew (1923 - 2008), collected in Cyprus during the 1960s. Thence by descent to Elaine Brew. Discovered in Elea. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
