Ca. AD 300 - 500. A repousse gold appliqu?, centred by a medallion with the bust of Julia Domna in right profile, with swept hair and drapery at the shoulders. The portrait is framed by a raised oval border and a broader field with scrolling vegetal ornament. Size: 33mm x 27mm; Weight: 0.5g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
