Ca. AD 1300 - 1400. A glazed ceramic footed bowl with a rounded body rising to a plain rim, on a short stem and spreading foot. The interior is decorated with a five-petalled flower with a central disc filled with a cross-hatched grid, encircled by radiating petals with hatched infill. The wall is encircled by a continuous band of oblique hatched strokes. The decoration is incised beneath a translucent glaze with green and amber splashes. Size: 90mm x 130mm; Weight: 315g Provenance: Provenance: Property of a central London gallery; Ex collection of James Alfred Brew (1923 - 2008), collected in Cyprus during the 1960s. Thence by descent to Elaine Brew. Discovered in Elea. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
