Ca. AD 1300 - 1400. A glazed ceramic footed bowl with a deep rounded body on a short stem and spreading foot, the rim slightly everted. The exterior is decorated with a horizontal band of incised zigzags between parallel incised lines. The interior has sgraffito decoration with a rectilinear grid of incised bands overlaid by curvilinear motifs, beneath a wash of green and amber glaze. Size: 80mm x 105mm; Weight: 240g Provenance: Provenance: Property of a central London gallery; Ex collection of James Alfred Brew (1923 - 2008), collected in Cyprus during the 1960s. Thence by descent to Elaine Brew. Discovered in Elea. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
