Ca. AD 1300 - 1400. A sgraffito ware bowl with a shallow, wide body, on a low ring foot. The interior is decorated at the centre with an incised six-petalled flower, each petal outlined and hatched, with curling tendrils filling the interstices. A dark band encircles the rim, and the exterior is left plain. Size: 75mm x 215mm; Weight: 645g Provenance: Provenance: Property of a central London gallery; Ex collection of James Alfred Brew (1923 - 2008), collected in Cyprus during the 1960s. Thence by descent to Elaine Brew. Discovered in Elea. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
