A matched pair of gold earrings, each with a rectangular openwork plaque pierced with roundels and chased with stylised foliate motifs, centred by a rectangular setting with an emerald secured by a fine wire. A loop below supports a pendant with a small red garnet in a collet above a repouss? triangular plaque, terminating in an emerald drop. Size: 40-41mm x 16-16mm; Weight: 3g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
