Ca. AD 700 - 900. An iron knife with a straight, single-edged blade tapering to a point, fitted to a short hilt formed with a broad ferrule punched with small triangles, terminating in a stylised raven-shaped pommel. Together with a tubular sheath, finished at the mouth with a reinforced collar and at the lower end with a pair of small bosses. Size: 360mm x 45mm; Weight: 470g Provenance: Property of European collector; Ex. UK private collection, 1990s.
