GREEK HIGH KARAT GOLD FLY PENDANT

拍品描述

Ca. 600 - 400 BC. A gold fly pendant formed from a thin hammered sheet with repouss? modelling of the insect, with a rounded head with pellet eyes, a broad thorax flanked by folded wings, and a tapering abdomen with longitudinal ribs. Small legs project at the sides, and a rolled suspension loop rises above the head. The reverse is plain. Size: 24mm x 19mm; Weight: 1.4g Provenance: Private London collection; previously in a South-German private collection formed on the European art market in the 1980s and 1990s.
