Ca. AD 400. A bronze oil lamp modelled as a Silenus head, with three projecting nozzles arranged around the beard and a boat-shaped handle. The lamp is set above a circular drip tray with a scalloped rim and pendant drops, mounted on a tall cylindrical stand on a circular platform base supported by three legs, each terminating in a lion's foot, the upper part in the form of a winged Siren. Restored. Size: 720mm x 180mm; Weight: 6.1kg Provenance: Property of an London art professional; previously in an old 1970's Canadian collection. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
