HELLENISTIC HIGH KARAT GOLD PENDANT WITH GARNET

Ca. 300 - 100 BC. A gold pendant set with a garnet drop, the mount formed as a cylindrical collar with applied wire ornament of alternating roundels and teardrop motifs. The lower edge is encircled by a scalloped wire border, the suspension loop decorated with a sinuous wire motif and pellets. Size: 19mm x 9mm; Weight: 1.7g Provenance: Private London collection; previously in a South-German private collection formed on the European art market in the 1980s and 1990s.
