PAIR OF GREEK HIGH KARAT GOLD FLY PENDANTS

Ca. 600 - 400 BC. A pair of gold fly pendants, each formed from a thin hammered sheet with repouss? modelling of the insect: a rounded head with pellet eyes, a broad thorax flanked by folded wings, and a tapering abdomen with longitudinal ribs. Small legs project at the sides, and a rolled suspension loop rises above the head. The reverse is plain. Size: 25-26mm x 19-19mm; Weight: 3g Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Germany; formerly with S.T. collection, Switzerland, 1980s-2000s.
