LARGE EARLY GREEK BRONZE GEOMETRIC STAG

Ca. 900 - 700 BC. A solid bronze statuette of a stag, standing on four tubular legs fused together beneath a straight bar-like body. The neck rises to a schematic head with a projecting muzzle, the antlers formed as a branching rack with stepped tines. A looped tail projects from the rump. Size: 190mm x 135mm; Weight: 395g Provenance: Property of an London art professional; previously in an old 1970's Canadian collection.
