LARGE EARLY GREEK BRONZE GEOMETRIC STAG

Ca. 900 - 700 BC. A solid bronze statuette of a stag, standing on four tubular legs fused together beneath a straight bar-like body. The neck rises to a schematic head with a projecting muzzle, the antlers formed as a branching rack with stepped tines. A looped tail projects from the rump. Size: 130mm x 110mm; Weight: 240g Provenance: Property of an Oxfordshire art professional; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1970s on the Canadian art market.
