Ca. 800 BC. A gold pendant modelled as a recumbent ibex with the legs folded beneath the body, the head raised with a projecting muzzle and a curled beard, the horns arched in a broad loop above the head, the flank and foreleg with incised linear detailing, with a ring and suspension loop to the back. Size: 20mm x 16mm; Weight: 3g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
