CYPRIOT LIMESTONE BUST OF NOBLEMAN

Ca. 500 - 300 BC. A limestone bust of a nobleman with close-cropped hair and short incised locks across the fringe. The oval face shows a broad brow, shallowly modelled eyelids, a straight nose, small lips, a rounded chin, and prominent ears. A thick cylindrical neck descends to the upper chest, the front carved in the round and the reverse left flat. Size: 470mm x 200mm; Weight: 18.3kg Provenance: Private UK collection; From an old British collection formed in the 1990s. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
