Limited/Numbered. This is copy number 2 of 30 copies on Imperial Japanese paper and signed by the author. 189 Pages and 180 plates of which most are in colour. The plates were printed from blocks made by john Swain and Son Ltd. The Aries Roman and Italic types were designed specially for this book by Eric Gill and the Chinese title and dedication by Professor Ma Heng, director of the Palace Museum, Beijing. The watermark and the endpapers have been designed from the decoration of âCelestial Ramsâ shown in plate XCIX. The binding in purple Chinese silk has been done by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, London. One of the finest books printed on Chinese porcelain. The catalogue of what was the greatest private collection as it was in 1934, compiled by one of the great authorities on Chinese ceramics. The book describes and illustrates 180 fine pieces ranging from Song wares to Qing wares. In near fine to fine condition. Original jade green folding box that opens with a ruyi head shape design closed by jadeite hinges in the Chinese manner. One of the scarcest and most desirable books on Chinese porcelain
