VIKING PERIOD HIGH KARAT GOLD LUNAR PENDANT WITH GRANULATION

Ca. AD 1000 - 1200. A gold crescent pendant with a thin sheet body, edged with twisted wire and a beaded inner border. The obverse is decorated with a sinuous applied wire ornamented with single pellets and clustered granules. A suspension loop with twisted-wire edging is soldered at the apex. The reverse is plain.
